Description
A little known Italian grape variety from Abruzzo but never the less well worth getting to know it. It is a little tricky to grow and harvests can be unreliable compared to other grape varieties but it taste so good it is sure to become a favourite!
The name Pecorino allegedly comes from the word for sheep “pecora” who love to roam through the vineyards and graze on the grapes. The wine is pale gold in colour, and it is known for rose petal aromas on the nose. It has an attractive freshness with the richness of fleshy stone fruit, quince & orange peel. Its high sugar content gives it a slightly heavier mouthfeel but the sweetness is balanced well with zesty acidity and a mineral finish.
Great with cheeses, roast pork, prosciutto and seafood
