Our new Chenin blanc from the Old Road Wine Company in Franschhoek, South Africa. We visited this winery on our recent trip and loved their range of simple, delicious wines. Then in May, Ryan Puttick the winemaker, came here and presented a really interesting tasting to customers who learnt more about the challenges and rewards of growing grapes in the Western Cape.
This Chenin is easy drinking, rounded with apple skin and quince on the palate with the all-important medium-paced acidity. Exceptional value for money, versatile with food or on its own straight from the fridge.
